Watch Mystic team rider Dominik Hernler and fellow wakeboarders Felix Georgii & Dominik Gührs set course for an icy mission. Pushing the creativity of wakeboarding on a frozen lake in Jokkmokk, Sweden, the ultimate challenge awaited high up north close to the artic circle.

“Eight days of wakeboarding with the homies on a frozen lake above the polar circle at -20 Celsius, a once in a lifetime trip in Swedish Lapland.”

From handplanting and clearing igloos to sliding unique obstacles, the architecture of the project was based on 3 wakeboard lines carved from pure ice. Building the ultimate frozen playground was quite the challenge and took months of preparation from the crew. When the lines of rails, kickers, pools, and igloos weighing tons were finished, it was time for the riders to break the ice.
“We had 3 pools cut out of meter thick ice with obstacles built of ice and snow. Definitely the coldest and most unique environment I got to ride in.”

Built For The Cold
Falling into one-degree water wasn’t really an option. Dom was donning our warmest wetsuits and the Star Sweat, built to handle the cold. Luckily, Dom rode out the mission unscathed. True to Mystic’s northern heritage with products equipped to push the evolution of our sports, these are the prime conditions to test the limits of our gear. “Long shooting days in chilly conditions meant having the proper gear. It wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Mystic had my back on that.”
